Feeling Great!

Mon Jul 27, 2009, 12:39 PM
Alright, So right after I wrote to my favorite writer, Mr. Alan Gratz and telling him of how i felt like i would never be able to make the manga of my dreams "Jensu: The Warrior", i found someone in College who loves to draw Comic based characters. Amazingly before i met him i had lost hope. He showed me a quick anatomy lesson within two days over the breaks we had. Instantly my style started to transform. It was no longer a plain jane Cartoon, but one with muscles just how i had invisioned my characters to be. after his tutorial and messing around with a lot of elements i cleaned up the old looks and learned how clothing fit a character....all because of a simple muscle tutorial.............but another problem has struck. I NEED YOUR HELP! I cannot clean up my drawings enough to color them, and on top of that i can't get the Comic Curve!!!!! if anyone knows what i mean.......i'm stuck because i need to learn how to do this, If you all have a great tuturial and know where one is at, please post a link at somepoint. I have made a break through thanks to looking at peoples artwork and the two day tutorial, but.........i need major help with this..
Thank you once again for all your support, i shall becoming out with more artwork soon, for now that i can draw decent, i feel like drawing all the time. :D!

I'm not sure what a comic curve is but I think I have something when it comes to improving your lines.

Try drawing lines and applying weights in them. Draw them in one stroke; no repeating, Like you do in most of your sketches. It's going to be a hard habit to break [repeating your lines] but I assure you that it will pay off. I used to repeat lines and eventually end up having a very rough dirty picture. It's okay if that's the effect you're going for but if you want clean lines, you just have to practice. You could try using brushes and various pen/nib sizes and see how your lines change when you apply pressure on your tool while drawing. There are videos in youtube that might help you too.

Good luck!:handshake:
