Alright, i'm using adobe Photoshop cs3. i know it very very well, but the only problem is. 0.0 is outlining and coloring anime! I don't know how to get a great outline, i have no tablet, and i'm stuck using the pen tool. It would be great if i could just simply use one size outline, but i want the thick to thin in it to! i don't know what exactly i do wrong. but no matter what i do, i can't outline good. If someone can find a Great video on how to outline with a mouse and get a professional look to it that would be great! i can't do this by myself anymore, and i need someone to help me with it. The traditional way of inking, i cannot do, because i don't know what looks good with getting thick, and i do not have the steadiest of hands. Pleaes

There are tutorials in youtube on how to use the tools on photoshop. I usually draw traditionally and scan then color it digitally. it's impossible to teach you this way. what you need is someone to show you how.

yeah..i know. but it's that curve for thick to thin that i need...it just feels like i get so close, but it's this step from transfering it to outline that i have my problem. in photoshop i would put another layer down, but......if i try to color on top of it, i coverup my lines. If i try different layer settings, like overlay for instance, it affects only the lines of the original. If i try to say, "okay lets use the magic wand tool and clear this all out, then i wind up messing up everything and it misses pixels. my artwork is to sloppy to do that to.. so. my quesiton is, how do you put a layer over it that will color in your figure, but not cover up your lines?

Take the time and carefully paint in the colour? There's no other way, if you don't want to redraw the lines.

This is what I do, I go to the outline layer, use the magic wand to select the area I want the color to be in. Then, I modify the selected area by expanding it 1 pixel. Then I go to a seperate layer and paintbucket the area with the color I want.

I keep the lineart layer above all other layers, so that the lines are never covered. I have accidentally colored on the lineart layer before, but you just undo it as soon as you realize what you've done.

I don't use the pen tool to make lines. I actually use the line tool. I find that easier most of the time. Course you have to have it on the right settings or it makes a new layer for every line you do. But I find it's easier for the most part. Curves are difficult, but certainly a lot easier than the pen tool for me.

create another layer, set it in multiply. That's it. then put your linework layer always on top of everything (other layers). That's it.
